Piano Exam Preparation (Age 6~ )

‘Enjoyment through achievement’ is a phrase that sums up our philosophy.  Earning an exam certificate is a rewarding experience. If you are working hard to make progress with your music, you need some way of recognizing your success and provide reassurance that you are on the right road. This is exactly what music exams offer:

  • Motivation and inspiration, working from a carefully structured syllabus towards a definite goal

  • A measure of personal progress and attainment against internationally recognized benchmarks

  • An objective guide to improve your musical skills

  • Assessment by a respected and independent musician who has been highly trained and constantly monitors the student's progress and provides sympathetic encouragement

  • Performance opportunities

  • A real sense of achievement

WHY TAKE A MUSIC EXAM?

The goals and learning styles of students are as varied as the students themselves. For those who are motivated by exams that award level certification, they may take optional exams such as Associated Board of Royal School of Music (ABRSM)or/and Royal Conservatory Examinations (RCM).

College admissions look favorably upon the completion of top levels for both tests as successful completion demonstrates motivation outside of school work.

Gao Music Academy has successfully prepared many students for all levels of testing. One or both exams may be taken for motivated students.

  • 45 minutes, 5-6 days for lower levels

  • 1 hour, 6 days a week for intermediate levels

  • 2 hours, 6 days a week for upper levels

  • For young students (grade 8 and below), the completion of weekly assignments is the co-responsibility of both student and parent.
